Sunken forest

We will go to the northern sector of the island, our Sonia and Armando will wait for us with a delicious breakfast in their rural home, the first agrotourism in Chepu, they are dedicated to the production of artisan cheeses and activities of the Chilote countryside, to get to Chepu we will visit Surrounded by beautiful landscapes for 1 hour, we are amazed with its dense forests, unique geography, high levels of biodiversity and the roar of the Pacific that make this place a wonder of Chiloé. Our next destination is the Chepu River, which awaits us with natural wonders.

We will know a land affected by the largest earthquake in history in 1960. In this sector a tsunami was generated that gave way to the salty water of the sea that fossilized the forest forming a swamp and 1,400 hectares of sunken forest, being an example of great adaptability and resilience, we will also visit the Muelle de la Luz or the Coluco lagoon, we will be able to see species such as the Kingfisher, the Huala, the Seven Colors, the Coipo and the Huillín. After finishing the navigation, we will have lunch with our hosts Fernando and Enriqueta a sample of typical food in their rural home with an impressive view, and then walk the trails of their native forest conservation project walking around species such as the Arrayán, the Luma, la Murta, Ulmo and Tepú, a true immersion in nature.
